Product Description

Two years ago during Black Friday, I decided to enter into the Instant Pot world that I had heard so much about. I purchased the DUO60 6 quart and couldn’t wait to try out the recipes

I had found searching through social media and the Internet. I immediately fell in love with the ease of use and reduced cooking times, but most importantly the freedom to walk away to spend time with my family.

With such a large family, I realized the 6 quart was sufficient in size for making a meal large enough for one night but lacked the capacity for a sizeable portion of leftovers to serve as another night’s meal.

I decided to purchase a DUO80 8 quart and have been very satisfied with the additional cooking space.

The Pros and Cons of Instant Pot Du080 8 Qt 7-in-1 Multi-use Programmable Pressure Cooker

The size of the DUO80 8 quart is the most beneficial aspect. It can cook more food but at the same amount of cooking time of the DUO60 6 quart.

The larger size of the DUO80 8 quart can also be a con to some. It does require slightly more time to build pressure and it requires more time to release pressure, whether natural release or quick release.

The sealing ring, like in other models, can occasionally absorb strong odors. There is plenty of helpful information on how to clean the ring and remove the odor if it becomes an issue.

Using the sun outdoors is an easy, economical, and effective way to remove any odors. Another difference I have noticed on the DUO80 8 quart is that the electrical plug does not detach from the machine like the DUO60 6 quart.

This may be an issue for some regarding storage or traveling purposes if they wish to place their cord in the inner pot.

I constantly have to secure the electrical cord every time I use my DUO60 6 quart, so I appreciate that it does not detach.

I have also noticed in the newer models that the pressure pin is now colored and easier to see.

What is the Price of Instant Pot Du080 8 Qt 7-in-1 Multi-use Programmable Pressure Cooker

The price of the DUO80 8 quart can vary, based on where you make your purchase. Like I previously stated, I purchased my first one on Black Friday to get significant savings and I purchased my second one on Black Friday too.

The price range for the DUO80 8 quart starts around $140 and some local stores sell it for $200.

If this is still out of your price range, look for sales or ways to use store coupons toward the purchase. I bought the DUO80 8 quart for less than $100 and it was well worth the price.

Product Specification

The Instant Pot DUO80 offers 14 Smart Programs which include Soup/Broth, Meat/Stew, Bean/Chili, Poultry, Sauté/Simmer, Rice, Multigrain, Porridge, Steam, Slow Cook, Keep Warm, Yogurt, Manual, and Pressure Cook.

By far, I use the saute, manual and pressure cooker programs the most. They are very versatile programs, which allow you to control the level of pressure cooking for most things such as beans, meats, pasta, and rice.

The yogurt function is very easy to use and cost effective to make a large batch of homemade yogurt. There are several helpful videos online to show how to use the different programs.

The DUO80 8 quart measures 14.8 x 13.18 x 14.01 inches and weighs 15.80 pounds. It requires 120V – 60Hz and has a 1200 watt heating element compared to the DUO60 which has a 1000 watt heating element.

It comes with safety measures that are UL and ULC certified, which is very important to give peace of mind.

The stainless steel inner pot (18/8) is food grade and does not have a chemical coating. This is also very important to me and makes the inner pot easy to clean.

You may notice a rainbow-like sheen after cleaning, but this is to be expected and not an issue.

Overall, my experience with the Instant Pot has been a great one. I have cooked everything from beans, rice, ribs, eggs, pasta, chicken, and even cheesecakes.

The size of the DUO80 8 quart I can cook meat with the side items all at the same time. It keeps the heat of the stove or oven out of the kitchen on hot, summer days.

It allows me to pour raw ingredients in and walk away, only to come back to a delicious full meal, sometimes within twenty to thirty minutes total cook time.

I can take a roast from the freezer along with potatoes and vegetables then completely cook it in less than an hour.

The versatility makes it great for traveling and using in hotels, campers, or boats. The cleanup process is very quick and easy being streamlined to the one inner pot.

The ability to delay cooking and use the warming function gives me the flexibility to be free from the kitchen, but still, feed my family a healthy meal.
